About

Our Story

In December 2025, Tom and Chad were at dinner with some friends. Tom had spent decades as a fly fishing guide on the Elk River and surrounding waters around Fernie. He knew every access point, every pothole on every shuttle route and every angler’s frustration with unreliable logistics.

The problem was simple but persistent. Anglers needed reliable vehicle shuttles to complete float trips. The options available were unreliable. Cash envelopes, text chains, hoping a cousin was free. None of it worked consistently.

Chad saw a business opportunity grounded in real community need. He reached out to Jack Jones, a close friend, an angler and an accomplished tech executive and developer, to solve the technical challenge. Together they built a platform and process that made shuttle logistics as reliable as the rest of the day on the water.

That is FlyGuys. We move your vehicle while you fish.

Chad Weir, FlyGuys Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Chad grew up in the outdoors. It is woven into who he is. He has lived most of his adult life in the mountains. For fifteen years he worked in events, logistics and transport operations. He also had a stint as a startup founder and consultant.

In the mid-2000s Chad discovered Fernie through the ski industry. He has returned a number of times over the years. Mountain biking, skiing, hiking and getting to know the community. From winter stints in the late 2000s to frequent visits across two decades, Fernie became a place that holds a deep place in his heart.

He saw an opportunity to build something meaningful in a community he cares about. FlyGuys is that opportunity.

Jack fishes. He also builds the systems that run beneath FlyGuys. That pairing is the point. He knows what a float day asks for because he lives it, and he knows how to make the logistics behind it hold up because building technology is his craft.

An accomplished tech executive and developer, Jack owns the platform as co-founder and CTO. Booking, dispatch, the driver tools and the digital backbone that keeps every shuttle accountable from key handoff to the rig waiting at the takeout. He builds for the real conditions anglers and guides work in, not the ideal ones on paper.

He also builds for what comes next. FlyGuys is built to grow into more than shuttles without losing the calm and reliability it starts with. That is Jack’s work, the quiet machinery that lets the rest of the company stay simple.

Tom Klingspon, Advisor

Tom Klingspon, FlyGuys Advisor

Tom is a retired fly fishing guide with deep roots in the Fernie river community. For decades he guided anglers on the Elk River and surrounding waters. He knows these rivers. The roads, the access points, the seasonal rhythms and what anglers actually need to have a great day on the water.

Tom’s insight sparked FlyGuys. His ongoing guidance keeps us grounded in the real needs of guides, anglers and the community.

Why We Built This

FlyGuys exists because reliable logistics should not be an afterthought to a river day. When you hand over your keys, you deserve to know your vehicle is in capable hands. When you are on the water, you should focus entirely on fishing.

We operate with care, accountability and local knowledge. Every shuttle is documented. Every vehicle is treated with respect.
